Hymnopetra Viralis Cranibora
Basic Details
Common Name: Zombie Fly
Average Height: 1'
Average Weight: 40lbs
Usual Pelt Colour: Black and green.
General Appearance: The Zombie Fly's natural form is essentially a large wasp, without the stinger, and with proboscis-like jaws, formed into a stabbing point. It's wings fold in along the spine, although usually very few people get a chance to look at them closely-if you see one, it is probably a good idea to run. Run, and don't ever stop as long as you breathe.
Don't. Ever. Stop.
Ecological Details
Habits: Acting mostly like the Virus Wasp at first sight, these wasps seem mostly docile until humans (and, interestingly, only humans) come within about ten feet-they then make a beeline for their heads, crawling to the back of the skull and buring their jaws inside the skull. The wasp then ejects the abdomen and crawls inside the victim, overtaking their lower brain functions and feeding off their blood.
This causes the victim to become extremely hungry, eventually leading to cannabalism and zombie-like actions. Reports have been recorded of people screaming for help and weeping as they eat their friends or family, and if the wasp is sucsessfully removed by surgery, the patient often has to come to terms with the fact that they have killed everyone they love. Thankfully, the insects are rare, and oddly enough Tribals seem unnafected, ignored by the demonic creatures.
Diet: Human blood.
Predators: Hive insects, Dragonflies.
Niche: Around large human settlements
By Products: Psychoactive drugs
